Montessori Co Teacher

Job Description

RHMS is seeking two experienced Montessori Co-teachers to fulfill a afternoon Co-Teacher position. This certified teacher must have experience in working with Casa (ages 3-6), and be prepared to work alongside the Head Teacher in a supportive team-teaching Montessori environment.

Responsibilities



Work with teaching partner to prepare a self-directed, stimulating and inclusive learning environment for students, to meet their individual needs. Work with teaching partners in implementing engaging lessons that focus on developing individual social, physical, intellectual and emotional skills. Prepare for activities as required. Use iPads and various age-appropriate technology applications (i.e. RAZ-Kids) to engage students and supplement the Montessori curriculum in a meaningful way. Conduct daily circle time that promotes learning and group discussion. Work with teaching partners to observe, guide, and assess students to check for skill development and understanding. Maintain open, positive and consistent communication with students' parents by keeping them up-to-date on the student's day. Organize and take part in school events, excursions and school-wide initiatives that may take place after school hours. Keep up-to-date on innovative Montessori and Elementary teaching methods and developments in the education field through seminars, Montessori refresher courses, etc. Keep the classroom clean and inviting by keeping materials organized and disinfecting daily. Alternate lunch supervision of Montessori and Elementary students with the other classroom Co-Teacher. Co-Teachers are required to create a fun, innovative and engaging After School Program for Montessori students.

Qualifications



MACTE or AMI Montessori Casa (age 3-6) certification preferred. ECE diploma registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators is also considered. Minimum 1 year experience working in a Montessori with Casa aged children (ages 3-6). Flexibility to cover for other co-Teachers if required. Experience in a private school is preferred

Excellent classroom management, organization and planning skills. Thrives in a positive team environment by collaborating with Head Teacher and Co-Teacher. Communicates with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner. Confidence in solving problems and providing solutions when issues arise. Works with a high standard of integrity. Excellent oral, written, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Highly proficient in navigating Windows and Apple operating systems and SMARTBoards. Skilled in Google Suites an asset

Additional Information:



Afternoon Co-Teacher: Hours are 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Additional hours may be required for school events.

Compensation Availability:



Starting Salary :

Approximately $36,143 per year (late August -June), subject to experience and education.
