SALARY: $41.54 to $50.55 per hour (Subject to employment status)

JOB PURPOSE:

The Nursing Supervisor plans, directs, collaborates, coordinates and evaluates intra and interdepartmental activities, making critical decisions about global staffing issues and operations during the assigned shift. The Nursing Supervisor is the designated on-site hospital administrative lead after normal business hours. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice, facility operations, and exceptional leadership abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered Nurse \xe2\x80\x93 registered in the Province of New Brunswick
• BCLS, ACLS an asset.
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience.
• Progressive nursing experience in which leadership ability and confidence in nursing has been demonstrated.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of maturity and initiative
• Able to function independently
• Demonstrates good working knowledge of hospital organization, departmental authority and responsibilities, administrative policies, and nursing policies and procedures
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.
• Written and spoken competence in English is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Evaluating facility risks, reporting, and liaising with senior leadership/Admin on Call for issues arising in the Moncton and Sackville Hospitals
• Evaluating nursing resources and trends for the best utilization of existing resources, including sitters.
• Liaising with managers on immediate staffing needs 0- 48hrs, reviewing staffing assignments across the inpatient units and making recommendations, changing assignments when necessary based on changes in census, acuity, sick calls, etc.
• Managing bed flow after regular business hours
• Acting as the highest level of decision making after hours within nursing for current situation to meet patient care needs
• Acting as a clinical resource for staff when they require direction/input; supporting staff in the interpretation of practices and policies
• Having a leadership role in clinical and non-clinical emergencies (Code Blue, ACT, Stat Medical Assist, Code White)
• Participating in project work as relating to staffing, bed flow, and other duties as required.
• Developing and maintaining good public relation skills with patients, public hospital staff and physicians
