Salary: 24.2581 to 26.0121 per hour (Subject to Employment Status may be paid at 8% in lieu of vacation and stat holidays as per CUPE collective agreement article 6.08 (a))

JOB PURPOSE


The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing dictated medical reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A High School Diploma plus a Medical Transcription course OR five (5) years of recent experience (within the last 8 years) as a 1018, shall be considered as equivalent.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record


Demonstrated proficiency verified by testing in:

• Medical Terminology Spelling 85%
• Medical Terminology Vocabulary 85%
• Transcription 60WPM, 85% accuracy rate

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for:

• Transcribing medical dictation
• Maintaining the dictation system, equipment, and supplies
• Sorting and distributing reports
• Performing medical transcription consult clerk duties
