DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor security systems and respond to alarms and incidents
Dispatch security personnel and emergency first responders to alarms and incidents
Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary
Maintain accurate records and reports of all security incidents and responses
Monitor and respond to all radio communications
Superior knowledge of phonetic alphabet, site and 10 codes, and radio protocol
Conduct regular site and safety checks
Coach, mentor, educate and develop guard staff
Ensuring a safe and secure environment for clients and employees
Monitor and immediately respond to Client and public issues, making sure service standards and requirements are met at all times
Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and procedures and advise accordingly
Excellent knowledge of City of Edmonton and greater area centres, streets and neighborhoods
General knowledge of road and weather conditions, and access/interpretation of info lines and applications
Conduct regular and random audits of systems, site/hazard assessments, fleet vehicles, deportment and inventory lists
Comfortable to defuse and/or de-escalate potentially volatile situations with persons and activities
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Be eligible to work in Canada
Have minimum high school diploma or equivalent
MUST be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently (min. level IV competency)
MUST have a current and valid Alberta Security License
Available flexible work schedule, primarily nights and weekends - some days
Must have a valid and current Class Five (5) Alberta Driver's License
Ability to provide a clear and current Driver's Abstract
Ability to be vehicle insured and bonded in Alberta
Must have or obtain min. level C First Aid - AED - CPR within 3 months
Have minimum two (2) to three (3) years experience in the Security industry or Law Enforcement field
Equivalent military experience is recognized
Experience in a customer service or public interaction role a definite asset
Certification in Non Verbal De-escalation Intervention (NVCI) or Tactics (or equivalent)
Certification or equivalent experience in Physical Control or Defense Tactics (PPCT - CTSS)
Certification/Degree/Diploma in Police Studies - Security Protection recognized
Excellent note taking and reporting writing skills, both hard copy and digitally
Strong experience with online and computer report writing software and applications
Experience and knowledge of and working with and enforcing OH&S and Safety programs
Recent and relevant experience handling and working in emergency, stressful situations
Superior ability to multi-task, critical thinker, work independently, and problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal, professional and communication skills
Outstanding organizational, time management, and customer service skill
