Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and experience in maintaining and repairing various types of heavy equipment. This role requires proficiency in diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and safely. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work with a variety of equipment including excavators, rock trucks, graders, crawler dozers, and other industrial machinery.

on a rotational shift schedule

Duties

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, rock trucks, graders, crawler dozers, and other industrial machinery. Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate repairs. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for assembly and repair tasks. Conduct electrical repairs as needed to maintain equipment functionality. Operate heavy equipment to test repairs and ensure proper operation post-maintenance. Provide excellent communication with the head office regarding equipment needs and repair status. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols during all maintenance activities. Assist in training junior mechanics or apprentices as required.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum

5 years of heavy equipment technician experience

(preferably heavy-duty off-road equipment). Dealership experience is highly desirable, particularly with brands such as Caterpillar. Familiarity with HVAC systems is a plus. Experience with farm machinery or industrial equipment is beneficial. Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with the ability to perform heavy lifting. Proficiency in reading schematics and performing automotive repairs will be advantageous. Commitment to following all safety protocols and best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Wage:

$50 - $75 hourly
