The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Toronto is looking for a
Mobile Crisis Worker
for the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS). This service provides 24/7 support to people experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis in northwest Toronto. This program is part of a City of Toronto police reform initiative that is evaluating the effectiveness and impact of non-police-led responses to people experiencing non-emergency crises. This program aims to reduce the harms experienced by people who have mental health and addictions challenges as well as Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2+ and other marginalized individuals. The TCCS is governed in partnership with a Collaborative which includes the following organizations:

The Mobile Crisis Worker will be part of a multi-disciplinary Mobile Crisis Response Team, providing crisis response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This team may include nurses, peer specialists, mental health clinicians, and concurrent disorders specialists.
Hourly Rate:
$32.30 - $35.39
Hours of Work:
36 per week (7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am on a rotational basis)

Responsibilities
This role will draw on experience in crisis assessment and intervention, de-escalation, harm reduction, suicide prevention, anti-oppressive practice, client-centered and recovery-oriented care, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive care to support individuals and families in crisis in the northwest area of Toronto. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Mobile Crisis Worker will work in alignment with CMHA's mission and strategic directions.
The Mobile Crisis Worker will exercise sound judgment in using de-escalation strategies, conducting suicide and risk assessments, and developing immediate and longer-term safety and support plans. They will work collaboratively with the individual, their family, and other service providers to ensure access to appropriate community resources.
In addition, the Mobile Crisis Worker will participate in community outreach, liaise with key stakeholders and partners, and maintain trusting, respectful, and collaborative relationships with clients, families, colleagues, referral sources, and the public.
The Mobile Crisis Worker will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely clinical and non-clinical documentation and actively contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Northwest Toronto Community Crisis Service through meetings, training, strategic planning, and evaluation initiatives.
Experience & Education Required

Undergraduate degree or diploma in Social Services (or equivalent).
Minimum two years of experience in community mental health and addictions, either through work or lived experience.
Strong knowledge of clinical and crisis assessments, concurrent disorders, homelessness, crisis intervention strategies, Trauma-Informed Care, and strengths-based service models.
Understanding of client-centred and recovery-oriented approaches.
Knowledge of systemic and structural factors (SDoMH) that impact Black, Indigenous, racialized, and LGBTQ2S+ communities, and the intersectionality of systemic barriers and social determinants of health.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Availability to work shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Fluency in a second language and experience working with diverse communities are assets.
A valid Driver's Licence is required.
