MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill the full time, permanent position of Mistahey Musqua Treatment Centre (MMTC) Administrative Support & Cook. The successful candidate will provide administrative support and be responsible for planning and preparing all meals for MMTC clients and guests located in Loon Lake, Sk.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:



Admin:

Correspondence - will type, copy, fax, and mail all reports, letters, memos, forms, timesheets, payroll information, and other documents/correspondence to the appropriate individual/program as required by MMTC. Maintain current/archive filing systems & office equipment inventory list; staff & client scheduling; minute taking; ordering and stocking supplies; booking facilities/rooms, etc. Answer/forward incoming calls; greet and provide assistance to all visitors etc. Completing other duties as assigned by the MMTC Manager.
Cook/Meal Preparation:

Preparation of food by planning, preparing and serving attractive and nutritionally balanced meals, including traditional foods. Preparing and/or following menus that reflect current information regarding nutrition and the chemically dependent client; and preparing menus for dietary purposes (i.e. diabetes, allergies, etc.). Coordinating and preparing foods for special events and outings Ensuring all sanitary and health regulations/standards are adhered to (i.e. hair nets, aprons, gloves, etc.). Maintaining cleanliness and up-keep of the kitchen, dining room, food storage areas/pantry, and other food service areas. Order and stocking supplies as needed and ensuring that there is ample food for all meals.

Qualifications:



Minimum:

Admin Support

Grade 12 One (1) year or more of work experience in office administration.
Cook

Safe Food Handling Certificate One (1) year experience preparing food for up to twenty people on a regular basis.
Preferred:

Admin Support

Certificate/Diploma in Admin. from a recognized institute.
Cook

Advanced Food Safety Course, Secondary School certificate, Cook's trade certificate, or equivalent. Two (2) plus years' experience preparing food for twenty (20) or more people on a regular basis.
Other:

Demonstrated knowledge in office procedures; ability to maintain accurate records/files and documentation; excellent organizational and planning skills. Excellent public relationship skills, monthly budgeting skills, and verbal/written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, personal and professional integrity. Lead a life of sobriety and one free of addictions. Able to work under pressure, independently, and in a team environment. Knowledge and understanding of MLTC and First Nation history, cultures, and values. Ability to understand/speak Cree and/or Dene is considered a valuable asset.
