JOB PURPOSE

To collaboratively participate in the planning and delivery of total nursing care to meet individual patient needs in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of the Healthy Aging and Long term care patient. Collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and families on 4 East and palliative unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current registration as a practicing member of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
• Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course and recertified yearly as a condition of continuing employment
• Possesses the medica nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care for this population and off service patients.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities, and complex patient care needs
• Be willing to obtain and maintain competency in the nursing care of patient requiring:
• Palliative care education as directed.
• Geriatric care education as directed
• Care of the dying and family care
• Pain management courses
• Other medical surgical competencies as necessary
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, as assigned, including weekends and holidays throughout the year.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work Record.
• Must be willing to float to other care areas with the facility as directed by Manager and or Nursing Supervisor

• Patient Safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively, and responding to adverse events.
• Attend work on a regular basis
• Work in other patient care areas as requested by nursing supervisor/manager.
