Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Integrated Operations, the Mining Engineer or Geologist is responsible for coordinating with site-based and supply chain departments to develop mine plans and improve the efficiencies within the supply chain in an innovative, creative and data-driven manner.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, who can coordinate and build positive relationships with both the mine and the broader supply chain. This person has strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills, and can schedule and prioritize competing demands in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Strong time-management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team setting is vital.

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Support 24-month mine plans, supporting presentations and documentation, as well as providing support for raw coal and clean coal blending
• Build a mine plan schedule that includes coal production targets, plant feed rate requirements, and operating days
• Ensure mine plans are coordinated with technical marketing, logistics and other considerations
• Perform economic analysis and cost estimating as well as assist with production and cost reporting, tracking, and invoicing
• Integrate and connect with other sites, logistics, and marketing groups to develop the best overall plan

Qualifications:

• Degree in Geology or Engineering with Mining, Civil, Geological or Geotechnical specialization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
• Minimum four years of well-rounded experience using statistical analysis to improve modelled input assumptions in quality considerations, process plant assumptions and raw inventory constraints
• Proficiency in mine design software
• Strong digital proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite\xc2\xae: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
