Job Description


Our Client, a Mining Services Company, specialized in underground mine development, contract mining, underground excavations, civil tunneling and mining related construction projects. They currently are looking for motivated and professional people to join their team in Central Saskatchewan.The Mining Engineer in Training (EIT) will provide engineering and overall contract administration support to our site management in the way of assisting with planning, scheduling, commercial management and administration, cost control, QA/QC of our work, and recommending process/mining method improvements. Reporting to the Potash Project Lead, the Mining EIT, is responsible and accountable for the following:Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control tracking to ensure compliance with the Specifications (testing frequencies, material approvals, notice of inspections, etc.)
  • Perform a variety of cost engineering/project control functions encompassing project billings preparation, estimating and cost control.
  • Daily reporting/tracking of projects to head office and client
  • Measurement and valuation of inventory for individual projects
  • Preparation and analysis of job reconciliations at end of project within terms of contract.
  • Tracking of delays, out of scope work and 3rd party vendors and materials
  • Tracking of costs and productivities to identify trends
  • Assist Superintendents with personnel planning and scheduling
  • Manage and Track Subcontractors/ Material Suppliers
  • Perform case studies and project works to improve site safety and performance
  • Additional or alternative duties may be allocated by the Project Engineer, Superintendent, or Regional Manager as required for site
  • Adherence to existing Master Service Agreements, labour law, OHS regulations and mining regulations
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • 2+ years of mining &/or industrial construction experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mining engineering or related field. Combination of post-secondary and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of general underground mining operations/processes
  • Knowledge of construction involving mines, concrete, structural steel, hoisting devices, pumps, and fans
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, MS Project or Primavera P6
  • General familiarity with ERP, AutoCAD, MS Power Point an asset
  • Registered, or eligible to register as an Engineer with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Saskatchewan is an asset
