Job Description


You are an Equipment Operator with 3+ years of experience in underground utility construction working on Outside Plant (OSP) construction. You will perform general labour duties and collaborate with the other crew members to complete work safely and efficiently, under the direction of the foreman.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Transport cargo and/or equipment utilizing various combinations of truck and trailer
  • Responsible for identifying weight as to not exceed vehicle requirements
  • Load and unload heavy equipment in a secure and damage free manner
  • Complete the Driver\'s daily pre-trip, and post-trip vehicle inspections, logbook, accident, or incident reports
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle (interior and exterior)
  • Use various types of equipment to move and install material
  • Operating tools and equipment, digging/holes, and trenches, pulling cable
  • General site preparation and clean-up as directed
  • some general labour duties as assigned as well
Requirements:
  • Experience working in the underground utility construction, civil construction or landscaping is an asset
  • Capable of reading underground telecommunication plans and locate maps is an asset
  • At least 1-3 plus years of Mini-excavator experience in the field
  • Experience operating and maintaining skid steers and backhoes an asset
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to attend to a broad range of activities
  • Technically adept with a strong ability to learn quickly and analyze information
  • Must be able to provide a drivers abstract
  • Class 3 license
Working Conditions:
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
