Our Team

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you'll find Vale's Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale's competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking 2 Mineral Processing and Mineralogy Students to join our Vale Base Metals Technology team in Mississauga. This is a 12-month fixed-term from January - December 2023.

The successful applicant may support all work done for exploration, ore evaluation, process development, operations, and marketing. This covers the whole range of tests, from chemical assaying and mineralogy to mineral separation and grinding. The Technology and Innovation Centre supports our operations in Brazil, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland/Labrador. Work may include support at operations or on the mineral processing mini-pilot plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • The health and safety of yourself and of your co-workers are paramount. You are responsible for following all company procedures and protocols.
  • Support for the collection of chemical assays, metallurgical, and mineralogical data during work in the chemical assay labs, mineral separation labs, or mineralogy labs.
  • Froth flotation testing to determine mill recovery from ores.
  • Comminution testing to determine hardness and grindability of ore and host rocks.
About You
  • Working towards a diploma or degree in a science, engineering, technology, or related field.
  • Effective written and verbal communications.
  • Self-organization skills and a goal-oriented personality.
  • A great colleague and teammate.
  • Able to do moderately physical work including lifting to 15kg and standing for extended periods.
