Orano Canada is a leading producer of uranium in Canada, working to power the future with clean energy! As we expand our team and take on exciting new projects in Saskatchewan's North, we invite you to be a part of our team!
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of mining operations, guiding teams and contractors to ensure exceptional project execution with an emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency. You'll coordinate and supervise contractors, monitor performance, and implement safety programs that prioritize the well-being of our workers and the environment. Your expertise will help diagnose and troubleshot complex issues, while supporting the ongoing improvement of mining and drilling tools. Responsibilities include:
Co-ordinate and supervise employees and contractors at site, review performance and techniques
Inspect and control the work site to ensure that adequate programs are in place that protect the health and safety of workers, the environment, and ensure that work is performed with adequate technical resources in a timely manner
Collect and ensure the quality of data and records gathered from the worksite, including Orano and contractor's forms and daily logs
Follow procedures, quality manuals and appropriate controls for the use of equipment
Involved in mining and drilling tools improvement such as proposing and suggesting modifications from field observations
Support the Mine Operations General Supervisor on matters related to safety, training and logistics
Perform other duties as assigned by the Mine Operations General Supervisor
Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

Work Location & Schedule:
McClean Lake site
14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.
As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano's pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks.
Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user's system for as many

Ideal qualifications

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a drilling environment
Experience in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electronic systems
Knowledge in borehole logging gamma, deviation and sonar
Ability to understand engineering drawings on mechanical, hydraulic and electronic systems
Familiar with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Familiarity with uranium mining and/or jet-boring technology are assets
Possess a valid Driver's License
Experience in working in remote locations and to work outdoors, in all weather conditions
Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several tasks

Excellent analytical, interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to organize, mentor, and develop crews
Well organized with structured approaches
Must be able to work independently under pressure and on a number of projects simultaneously
A proven team leader who is able to develop positive working relationships and work closely and effectively with all team members
