We are looking for a Mine Operations Manager who will be accountable for safe & efficient production to deliver the annual TMM plan utilizing the mining fleet and resources. This is a great opportunity for a Mine Manager with extensive open pit (surface mining) experience to lead and influence the success of our mining operations in IOC.

You are specifically responsible for delivering in the following areas:
Safety \xe2\x80\x93 AIFR below established target, no fatalities. Actively leading in employee engagement. Actively leading the complementary and effective use of CRM, Zero Harm, Take5, and ERR HS risk management. Ensuring IOC performance and practices meet or exceed current policy and regulation.
Production \xe2\x80\x93 Meet and exceed 1-yr Plan for TMM. Mine sustainably to achieve 5-yr TMM Plan.
Costs \xe2\x80\x93 Drive cost per ton performance by meeting and exceeding Mine Plan. Deliver better-than-Plan for total OpEx spending, below plan for CapEx spending. Reduce working capital.
Leadership \xe2\x80\x93 Provide resources, direction, and decision-making for Mine Operations. Follow transparent processes to get \xe2\x80\x9cright person in right role\xe2\x80\x9d. Require engagement at floor level from LW2, and LW1 leader and support roles. Provide consistent coaching, mentoring and feedback with direct reports and MOR.
Continuous Improvement - Actively supporting progress of PDI and Kaizen projects: sustaining those completed, driving those underway, organizing pipeline of next priority opportunities. Actively support cost savings initiatives.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring
For your candidacy to be considered, the requirements are as follows:
A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team
Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or other relevant field.
Master\'s of Business Administration or a related field will be considered an asset.
Minimum of 10 years\' relevant experience in an industrial environment.
Minimum of 5 years\' experience in a leadership role, ideally at the management level.
Qualifications required
Excellent leadership skills.
Ability to understand and change an organization\'s culture.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Results-driven and strong ability to put structures in place.
Work experience in the community.
Experience in Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement methods.
French language skills would be an asset

This position is located at the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC), which is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-Iles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port. The IOC produces high grade iron ore that can contribute to the decarbonization of the steel industry.
