About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Millwright located in Prentiss, AB (CAN).

The Millwright provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review the job package and verify work can be carried out safely.
• Create and follow hazards assessment indicating safety, health and environmental considerations for a jobs
• Perform the task as per the conditions of the Safe Work Permit
• Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.
• Calibrates and aligns equipment.
• Completes preventative maintenance activities.
• Checks sizing of components and parts.
• Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.
• Coordinates maintenance spare parts.
• Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
• Repairs, maintains and installs equipment and machinery which is used in the process.
• Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.
• Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
• Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.
• Follows standard work procedures at all times.
• Create a field procedure when a procedure does not exist.
• Initiate procedure updates as improvement opportunities are determined.
• Participate in procedure audits as requested.
• Review procedures as required.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Millwright discipline, maintain a high quality of work
• Provide influential leadership within the Dow team and contractor workforce.
• Assist field planner in planning jobs in Millwright discipline as requested

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

• Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
• Stand 50% of the time.
• Walk for extended periods of time
• Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
• Work in tight and closed in spaces.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, SCBA. To ensure an appropriate and safe fit, a clean shaven face is required.
• Essential functions of this position may require, among other things, that you use particular types of equipment -- such as on-site safety equipment that has specific weight limitations whereby your own weight, plus the weight of tools and other items and materials, must not exceed a certain threshold. (For example, some types of safety equipment may be rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds total.) In the event a job offer for this position were (conditionally) extended and provides for a pre-employment medical examination, you will be appropriately evaluated regarding your ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• A Journeyman, Millwright or Red Seal certificate is required.
• A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in the Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft and SAP is preferred.
• 5 years of previous experience working in a Petrochemical facility is preferred.
• Previous experience as a lead hand, foreman, team leader, etc. is preferred.
