Overview

The role of the industrial mechanic (millwright apprentice) covers all aspects of the machine maintenance role, working alongside a certified millwright. Specializing in fabrication and installation, as well as maintaining safety guarding to protect employees from injury. The role includes dismantling and re-installation of machinery, welding, cutting, releveling of extruder equipment, thermoformer, water pumps, motor bearings, and other general equipment. e.g. IRD - crystallizer, blenders and dryers. Other duties include general maintenance activities including tooling changeovers, painting and minor plumbing works.

A mechanical & technical assessment must be completed to determine general mechanical aptitude and suitability for the role.

Location:

Mississauga, ON.

Shifts

:

7am to 3pm; 11am to 7pm Monday to Friday and some weekend coverage

Union

:

membership required after 600 hours.

Details

Repair/overhaul of equipment e.g. pump / motor blower Dismantling, cleaning and re-installing screw die, polishing rolls, toggle assemblies, etc. Participating in learning machine start up procedures. Preparation of hot work permits. Communicating to Maintenance Manager the completion of assignments. GMP/SQF and any other housekeeping of assigned work areas. Working with junior and senior maintenance personnel to complete assigned tasks. Learning Megamation software and completing daily work orders. Learning Poka software and completing the tasks assigned. Ensure positive team behaviours are upheld on all shifts.

Enrolled in a Millwright Apprenticeship program

. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Ability to understand English written and verbal instructions. Mechanical Aptitude. Proven ability to effectively troubleshoot problems.
