We are seeking a skilled Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Mill Floor Operator is responsible for roll changing, roll partings, entry guides and delivery guides and water, in accordance with Mill Set up Manual.
Responsibilities
Monitor the rolling process in combination with the Rollers to maintain the size and quality of the finished bar.
Interact with the various measuring devices (calipers, laser gauge, measurement read outs, etc.) to achieve a product which is within the allowable tolerances of a customer specification
Record measurements of products in accordance with our internal Quality Systems
Monitor interstand equipment at defined intervals, and making appropriate adjustments to the equipment to accommodate for wear/damage/misalignment
Monitor guiding equipment at defined intervals, and making appropriate adjustments to the equipment to accommodate for wear/damage/misalignment
Execute change over activities in a safe, accurate and timely manner - removal and installation of the various equipment to navigate the production schedule
Able to safely operate a remote pendant crane, as well as work safely guiding an overhead crane operator with various equipment lifts
Perform off-line set up of stands with all required guiding in a safe, accurate and timely manner, such that it is ready to be installed into the rolling mill when required
Perform off-line set up of guiding equipment when required in the Roll Shop. Able to identify deficiencies in equipment and rebuild equipment properly.
Perform off-line installation of roller bearings when required in the Roll Shop. Able to identify deficiencies in equipment and rebuild equipment properly.
Able to receive instruction from the Shift Roller and Team/Technical lead
Experience
Mechanically inclined.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to use a micrometer, caliper and ruler with accurate measurements.
Capable of using a pipe wrench, crescent wrench, sledgehammer, pry bar, burning torch and other tools.
Strong appreciation for Safety Rules and Procedures.
Previous rolling mill experience an asset.
