POSITION SCOPE:

Acting as an advisor, responsible for microbiological, chemical and physical hygiene in the manufacturing facility and microbiology laboratory manages the Environmental Monitoring program at the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

\xc2\xb7 Leads, co-ordinates and supports activities associated with plant hygiene, site microbial risk profile, environmental monitoring, and cleaning validation

\xc2\xb7 Ensure site compliance with both Apollo policies, quality/technical standards, health, safety, and environmental regulations, and regulatory requirements (Health Canada, FDA)

\xc2\xb7 Supports the Quality Laboratory & manufacturing plant with a broad base of experience and expertise in process hygiene, personal hygiene, and material hygiene

\xc2\xb7 Evaluates and approves where appropriate: change controls, test procedures, local SOPs and protocols and reports

\xc2\xb7 Performs regular GEMBA walks and housekeeping inspections in the manufacturing areas and labs

\xc2\xb7 Assist with investigations into microbiological failures/non-conformances and coordinate CAPA activities to mitigate microbiological risks as needed

\xc2\xb7 Provide mentoring/technical expertise to lab and plant personnel by maintaining open communication and sharing of knowledge

\xc2\xb7 Act as process owner and subject matter expert (SME) for the environmental monitoring (EM) program.

\xc2\xb7 Author or approve cleaning validation assessments, protocols and reports.

\xc2\xb7 Approve validation documents related to facility or equipment user requirements or qualifications to ensure hygienic design is considered.

\xc2\xb7 Work collaboratively with manufacturing partners to develop robust cleaning and sanitization programs and provide training to operators on best hygiene and sanitization practices.

\xc2\xb7 Consult on and provide recommendations around sanitary design of manufacturing equipment, facilities and utilities.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct laboratory studies related to cleaning / sanitization procedures, plant hygiene, and investigations as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Approve objectionable organism risk assessments.

\xc2\xb7 Assist with investigations into microbiological non-conformance related to environmental monitoring and co\xc2\xadordinate CAPA activities to mitigate microbiological risks as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Assist with investigations into Phase I / Phase II microbiological results.

\xc2\xb7 Generate system reports as required by job function and follow up as appropriate (Non-conformance, LIR, Near Miss/Accident Reports and Change Controls) to ensure they meet Regulatory and Corporate specifications.

\xc2\xb7 Define site procedures on gowning and hygienic practices.

\xc2\xb7 Review facility pest control reports and make recommendations on corrective actions as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Perform regular GEMBA walks and housekeeping inspections in the manufacturing areas and labs.

\xc2\xb7 Approve applicable site procedures related to; cleaning and sanitization of manufacturing equipment; facility housekeeping; pest control; utility maintenance; and environmental monitoring.

\xc2\xb7 Prepare, execute protocols and write reports (Validation, Technical, etc...).

\xc2\xb7 Schedule workload/workflow for other personnel working in the section.

\xc2\xb7 Collect data and complete Annual Environmental Monitoring Report with consideration for trending and program recommendations.

\xc2\xb7 Make recommendations on and revise methods and standard operating procedures as required.

\xc2\xb7 Train personnel in departmental procedures, technical knowledge of equipment and methods, safety, asepsis, and cGMP.

\xc2\xb7 Troubleshoot EM related equipment/systems and facilitate remediation. Provide guidance to other Quality Laboratory personnel to aid in troubleshooting departmental issues.

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to a safe working environment, which meets GMP/Health/Safety/Environmental regulations and Corporate Policies within the Quality Laboratory by following SOPs and participating in on-going training.

\xc2\xb7 Work effectively in a team environment through open communication and demonstration of leadership competencies to maximize business results.

\xc2\xb7 Identify opportunities for efficiency and make recommendations around industry trends as well as anticipated regulatory changes. Participate in the implementation of change to continuously improve current systems/processes for maximization of business results and/or enhance compliance.

\xc2\xb7 Provide mentoring/technical expertise to lab and plant personnel by maintaining open communication and sharing of knowledge.

\xc2\xb7 Seek continuous improvement opportunities to enhance plant efficiency without impacting the plant micro risk profile.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in plant audits related to microbiological contamination prevention practices

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

\xc2\xb7 Strong knowledge around hygienic design of equipment, facilities, and utilities

\xc2\xb7 Ability to evaluate scientific data

\xc2\xb7 Ability to take ownership for and work independently on project activities

\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and presentation skills

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of and competence in the application of general GMPs, CFRs, ISO, WHO and ICH Guidelines.

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to influence and facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to consensus / alignment

\xc2\xb7 Strong leadership, organization, decision making and interaction management skills

\xc2\xb7 Advanced computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

\xc2\xb7 Strong technical writing, verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

\xc2\xb7 Ability to clearly communicate (and explain rationale behind) plant hygiene requirements to all levels of employees from the operator level up to senior management

\xc2\xb7 Certifications/Licenses: Required to certify as J&J Plant Hygienist
