Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs per week), Permanent





The Otipemisiwak Metis Government is recruiting for a full time Michif Language Programs Administrator to join the Intergovernmental Relations department as a part of the Language Revitalization team dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Michif and other Metis languages. Reporting to the Michif Language Manager, alongside the Senior Michif Language Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide essential administrative support for ongoing language initiatives and community engagement efforts led by the Language Revitalization team. The Michif Language Programs Administrator will oversee logistics for language programs and events, manage program data, coordinate communications, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations for the team. This position requires a motivated, adaptable, and detail-orientated professional with a commitment to supporting Metis language revitalization.




Key Responsibilities


• Assist with intake and registration for language programs and events, ensuring participant eligibility and proper documentation.
• Manage inquiries by phone and email, providing accurate and timely information about language programs and initiatives.
• Track program participation and metrics, including number of participants, program outcomes, and demographic information.
• Support the preparation of materials such as brochures, pamphlets, and online content to promote language initiatives.
• Coordinate logistics for language classes, community workshops, and cultural events, including scheduling,booking venues, and liaising with vendors.
• Maintain accurate records and data entry in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Forms.
• Collaborate with team members to assist in planning and implementation of new language initiatives.
• Perform general administrative tasks, such as maintaining files, processing expense claims, and supporting departmental reporting needs.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

• Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential and politically sensitive information. Strong political sensitivity is required.

• Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills, with an ability to take initiative.
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Culturally sensitive and compassionate.
• Clear understanding of the Otipemisiwak Metis Government and knowledge of Metis history, culture, and languages, with an understanding of language revitalization principles.


Qualifications



• A background in administration or a related field, with experience supporting community-focused programs is an asset.
• Familiarity with Indigenous language revitalization, linguistics, or education is an asset.
• Two years of experience in a similar role is preferred.


Other Requirements


• Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, as well as occasional evenings and weekends.
• Some travel within Alberta is a requirement, including some overnight stays. Additional, less frequent, out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and operational vehicle is required.
