Applications are invited for the position of Metis Education Program Leader (1.0 FTE - continuing full-time) with duties commencing on a mutually agreed upon date. The Metis Education Program Leader is a member of the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Education Unit within Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools and is responsible for the development of curricular strategies specific to the success of First Nations, Metis and Inuit students. As part of this team, your role is the provision of division-wide leadership for Metis education. Duties include but are not limited to support for St. Michael Community School as a Metis education school of excellence, support for Michif language programming, and support for division-wide Metis education strategy and cultural programming. In addition, the successful candidate will be accountable to and will support Nakateyimitowin, the Metis Education Governance Committee and partnership with Central Urban Metis Federation Inc. (CUMFI) including regular reporting.
Individuals applying for this role should possess the following:

  • A professional 'A' teacher's certificate
  • Five years successful teaching experience
  • Michif language competency is considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with anti-racist and anti-oppressive education
  • Ability to assist teachers to implement effective teaching strategies for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students
  • Ability to assist teachers with linking the curriculum to Metis content in planning for instruction and assessment
  • Ability to assist teachers with Metis instructional resources
  • Ability to facilitate Metis specific professional learning for teachers
  • Ability to network and develop partnerships among Metis organizations
  • A demonstrated ability to work within a team as well as independently
  • Commitment to the ideals and principles of Catholic education
