Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Meter Data Management & Load Settlement, the primary scope of this position is to perform load research activities to be used by various business units in the Engineering and Regulatory departments.

What You Get to Do:

  • Conduct energy, demand, and loss studies in support of cost-of-service studies required for regulatory filings.
  • Develop and maintain customer class load surveys in support of load settlement and internal needs and analyze the data collected.
  • Develop and/or update customer class profiling models suitable for load settlement that satisfy the AUC Settlement System Code.
  • Develop and/or update loss calculation and loss allocation models for load settlement.
  • Assess and respond to Post-Final Adjustment Mechanism (PFAM) submissions as required.
  • Assist in Load Settlement operations as required.
  • Support IT-OT project upgrades that impact the Metering group.
  • Create Substation, Substation Transformer & Substation Feeder Load Duration Curves and Substation Feeder Composition tools for Engineering planning purposes.
  • Respond to information requests and undertakings that arise from internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree (i.e., Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science).
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer in Alberta with APEGA.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the utility industry.
  • Use of computer applications (e.g., Oracle software system for managing interval data, LPSS load settlement system, SAS, MS Access, Customer Information System), metering, programming, modeling electric system elements, profile development and modeling.
  • Meter data management would be an asset.
  • Data analytics would be an asset (e.g. Databricks, Python, Azure, AWS, SQL).
  • Knowledge of the AUC Settlement System Code would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory principles, billing procedures, rate design and cost allocation would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including technical writing skills, problem-solving and analytical skills, interpersonal skills, networking, and relationship building and project management.
