We're looking for a
detail-oriented Meter Technician
who takes pride in safety and precision. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring accurate energy measurement for thousands of customers by installing, testing, and repairing advanced metering systems. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor - Technical Services, you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and contribute to reliable service across Greater Sudbury. The successful candidate will:
Install, remove, and verify polyphase and single-phase meters
Perform meter calibrations, repairs, and adjustments
Conduct power factor analysis and cross-reading verification
Respond to customer metering layout requests
Complete documentation and terminal input as required
Operate and inspect company vehicles per policy
Check customer's voltage and install current and voltage recorders as required
Assist with load surveys which include removal of tapes, services, install or replace faulty recorders
Investigate diversion of power
Carry out transformer checks
Seeking the following qualifications:
Minimum 2 years at community college level in electrical or instrumentation
Completion of Meter Technician Training Course and required apprenticeship
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Competent knowledge and understanding of meter methods of communication such as: cellular / Fibre/TCP IP / RS232 and Radio
Must have competent working knowledge of Utility's revenue metering system
Valid class G driver's license as job duties require frequent field work
Team oriented with a positive attitude
