Accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment Operate cash register Supervise staff (apprentices, stages hands, design team, etc.) Operate computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems Provide advice about merchandise Advertise and/or promote products, sales or services Provide customer service Train staff Assist in display of merchandise Greet customers and discuss type, quality and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental or lease Maintain sales records for inventory control Prepare merchandise for purchase, rental or lease Stock shelves and display areas Price items using stamp or stickers according to price list Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising and personnel matters Obtain articles for customers from shelf or stockroom Keep stock clean and in order Direct customers to location of articles sought Bag, box or parcel purchases for customers, for shipment or delivery Suggestive selling Clerical duties (i.e. faxing, filing, photocopying) Order picking Perform general cleaning duties (i.e. sweeping, mopping floors) Process money, cheques and credit/debit card payments Scan items Tabulate total payment for goods or services required Receive payment for goods or services Calculate daily/shift payments received and reconcile with total sales Stock shelves and clean counter area Greet customers Wrap or place merchandise in bags Assemble, install and set-up merchandise/products Accept reservations or take-out orders Wax and polish floors Unpack products received by store and count, weigh or sort items Calculate foreign currency exchange Participate in promotional activities Verify the age of customers when selling lottery tickets, alcohol or tobacco products Monitor all entrances and exits, request proof of payment when necessary Carry customer's purchases to parking lot and pack orders in customers' vehicles
