Job Summary

The Program Cost Consultancy of AECOM is currently seeking pragmatic, highly talented and experienced MEP Cost Consultant to provide cost estimating support. This position will be based on Mississauga, ON location.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete estimating and cost planning requirements through pre-contract design phases
  • Review drawings and specification to determine Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing needs of the project
  • Detailed quantity take-offs of materials and labour
  • Assisting in post- contract change order review
  • Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and cost allowances for scope changes
  • Review the scope specified within the proposal to ensure it is specification compliant
  • Review labor rates to ensure conformance to the contract requirements
  • Review labor productivity to ensure that the labor hours are in conformance with Mechanical Contractors Association(MCA), National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) or contract working restrictions, overtime is appropriate, etc

Minimum Requirements
  • Candidates must have at least a Bachelor's Degree + 2 years of MEP cost estimating experience directly related to both engineering and/or construction projects to be considered for this position or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications required
  • Demonstrated experience with all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing elements is desirable
  • A growth mindset and ability/desire to learn
  • Self-starter attitude with results oriented focus
  • Proven accuracy, reliability and completeness in job accomplishment
  • Demonstrate a proactive, firm and respectful approach to estimate reconciliation efforts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge to work with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with CIQS/OIQS and Uniformat II Estimating Standards considered an asset
  • Proficient with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, MCA, NECA, etc.
  • Proficient with estimating software
  • Knowledge to work with CostX software
  • CEC for Electrical and Mechanical
  • Experience and familiarity with change order, site instructions, RFI's etc.
