An opportunity within Addiction & Mental Health exists to work as a member of the Outreach Team with a focus on working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and other clients who have complex support needs. Our clinicians work within an interdisciplinary team in collaboration with PDD, Psychiatrists, and community agencies that provide support to the DD population in the South Zone to provide timely and appropriate assessment, consultation, and education to individuals with complex needs and their support. As the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) you will provide direct service to individuals with ID/DD, their community residential programs, their families and stakeholders. You will provide assessment & consultation services, facilitate therapy and skills groups, and develop and implement applied behaviour management approaches. You will be expected to provide clients and their networks with integrative case management and facilitate communication among all stakeholders to ensure the effective coordination of services and commitment to providing quality care. As the MHT you will demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills; decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, conflict resolution, and time management skills; the ability to coach and teach; change management, flexibility and resiliency; and foster a climate of collaboration to build relationships within the interdisciplinary team, public agencies, government, committees and other partners.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications: Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge/experience working directly with individuals with dual diagnosis and with developing behavioural interventions and Care plans. Knowledge and experience in individual and group therapy and the ability to use a variety of treatment modalities that support individuals with developmental disabilities. (i.e. CBT/DBT behavioural therapy or other). Class 5 driver\'s license or non-GDL and a reliable vehicle work-related travel \xe2\x80\x93 work travel to other communities will be required. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Community Treatment Orders, Protection of Person in Care Act and other relevant legislation is a requirement. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training. Community experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of full-time experience working with adults with developmental disabilities. 2 years of full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years working with patients suffering from a mental illness. Experience with applied behaviour management strategies (i.e. positive approaches). Knowledge of available community addiction & mental health services & other resources.
