To support this goal, the North Zone Addictions & Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist within our Multidisciplinary Intensive Treatment Services (MITS) team. It's goal is to provide high-quality, diverse care that enhances community and individual well-being and supports the long-term mental health and wellness of children, youth and their families. This position works independently as a member of a multiple disciplinary team providing evidence informed & best practices in assessment, treatment, addiction & mental health interventions, support & follow up to clients. This is an advanced mental health role providing interventions to address the full range of addiction & mental health issues. Located within Grande Prairie which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada. This role is focused on supporting individuals within Treaty 8 and surrounding areas. Creating a safe space for all individuals. A vibrant multicultural city in northwestern Alberta, Grande Prairie (population approx. 70,000) is in the heart of the Peace Region, located 459 kms northwest of Edmonton. This community acts as a regional hub serving people from across Northern Alberta, Northern British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. It combines small-town vibes with urban amenities. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Valid Class 5 Driver's License (some travels to rural communities may require). Minimum 3-5 years' Mental Health and Addiction experience (preferably in a child and youth community or inpatient mental health setting) is required. Current registration with the applicable professional college. Authorization to perform psychosocial interventions required. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Experience working with severe and persistent mental health and addiction. Recent experience in a supervisory role within Mental Health and Addiction. Previous experience working within rural and remote locations. Experience working with Child and Youth.
