Clinical: Term Until December 19th 2025, Part-Time, 16 Hours Bi-Weekly / 0.2 FTE: Days, Evenings, Weekends

The Mental Health Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services for clients with complex and varied health needs. This may include but is not limited to providing clinical leadership within the treatment team, medication administration, provision of treatments, ongoing assessments to identify changes in condition, and the facilitation of care.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Delivers person-centered nursing services to youth with complex mental health needs including but not limited to performing risk assessments, stabilizing crises, monitoring overall condition, oversight of prescribed treatments and attending to injuries and medical emergencies; Participates in assessments to plan and implement client-centered individualized treatment plans with an interdisciplinary team; Assists in ongoing evaluation of treatment plans to gauge healthcare treatment effectiveness; Provides ongoing collaborative clinical leadership regarding treatment and stabilization; Completes thorough and objective documentation in a timely manner; Relays medical observations and concerns as appropriate to the applicable team members, youth and families; Collaborates with and refers to external medical providers to ensure wrap-around treatment management; Provides consultation, feedback and support to staff concerning healthcare needs; Participates in staff meetings and planning days to discuss programs concerns, treatment issues, and unit management; Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to perform assessments, coordinate client care, and provide treatment services for children and youth; Demonstrates an active commitment towards professional growth and advancement through participation in training, workshops, etc.; Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; Active registration with the Manitoba Nurses Association of Registered Nurses or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses' Association of Manitoba; Minimum of two years' relevant working experience working within a mental health crisis stabilization or similar setting required; Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk populations is preferred; Demonstrated experience and competence working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preferably working across agencies/systems in the provision of coordinated care; Working knowledge of applicable legislation including but not limited to Personal Health Information Act, Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, and the Mental Health Act; Mental health/crisis intervention training certifications including NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) are considered an asset; Knowledge of Indigenous culture, or willingness to learn, including participating in cultural practices, programming and ceremonies alongside youth; Valid Basic Life Support and First Aid/CPR is required; Valid class 5F driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driver's abstract; Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks; Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills; Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and function in a demanding and stressful environment; Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office software; Physically able to perform duties of the job;

Salary Range: H3-YASU $38.63 - $47.00
