Mental Health Lead

Position Type / Hours:

Full-Time Permanent. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours weekly, plus overtime as required, aligning with school year calendar and school holidays

Annual Compensation:

Salary Grid ME $94,198 to $ 120,582 commensurate with education, skills and experience.

The Mental Health Lead works collaboratively with system leaders and key stakeholders to develop, action, and monitor the annual student mental health action plan and multi-year mental health and addictions strategic plan. This position services as a liaison with School Mental Health Ontario and works collaboratively with community mental health partners to address mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention within the education sector. The Mental Health Lead collaborates and coordinates with the Senior Psychologist to support mental health priorities and responds to priorities as they arise across the school board. With a focus on prevention and early intervention, this position oversees and coordinates mental health group programs and mental health promotion initiatives across the school board.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:

Graduate degree in Clinical/School/Counselling Psychology or Social Work is required. Registration with a provincial college governing mental health professionals is required. Extensive clinical experience within a school board setting across the tiers of mental health intervention (promotion, prevention, intervention, crisis response, system navigation.). Fluent understanding of evidence-informed practices in school-based mental health support, implementation science, and knowledge mobilization in the school setting. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in strategy development, coordination, and implementation in the area of child and adolescent mental health. Experience providing and/or facilitating adult learning, professional learning and training to a range of staff positions, parents/caregivers and students. Experience in budget management and prioritization Experience writing professional reports for a range of audiences including the Ministry of Education and Senior Leadership Experience creating accessible resources for staff, parents/caregivers, and students regarding student mental health and well-being Experience responding to tragic events and providing communication and resource support to front-line staff Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment. As travel within the Board's jurisdiction is a requirement of this position, applicants must possess an Ontario Driver's License and a vehicle.
