Description:
The Niagara North Family Health team is looking for a creative, innovative and highly motivated Mental Health Counsellor with experience in the delivery of mental health services to work in our collaborative care model. The position has the opportunity to work both in-person and virtually (hybrid work). This individual will complement our team in the delivery of individualized counselling. Finally, this position provides opportunities for individual and group-program innovations in the area of mental health.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Social Work or a Master's level counselling/psychology degree
Registered with College of Social Workers or other relevant Registered College
Counselling/therapy experience preferably in a community setting working with a diverse range of presenting issues
Experience in managing patients who have experienced complex trauma
Training in EDMR an asset
Proficiencies in assessment, psychotherapy, and psychological counselling techniques for working with individuals, couples and families over a wide range of ages
Previous experience teaching and facilitating groups and asset, online and/or in-person.
Superior leadership, organization, research, evaluation, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Training and experience using cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT).
Strong knowledge of community resources in mental health
MINT Memory Clinic Training an asset
Familiarity with Mac OS environment and prior experience and knowledge of the electronic health record an asset
Teaching and experience facilitating groups an asset
Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a busy multidisciplinary team
