Job Description

The Roberts/Smart Centre is looking for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic mental health professional to provide direct clinical services, outreach and case management to youth, ages 12 through 18 and their families, in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment.

CLINICIAN

1.0 FTE (Permanent) (In-person position in Ottawa)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Under the supervision and guidance of Clinical Director, major responsibilities includes:

1- Work within a trauma-informed framework with a multi-disciplinary team.

2- Provide client-centred assessment, therapy groups, and clinical treatment services to youth who present with complex mental health challenges and associated behaviours that impair their functioning and require an intensive level of intervention.

3- Responsible, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, for all aspects of the mental health assessment, treatment planning, intervention (both individual and group).

4- Documentation and leadership of the clinical interventions process for the youth and their families.

5- Support and advise other team members about trauma informed care and collaborate on interventions that are therapeutic using your clinical judgement and skills as a member of the treatment team.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:



1- Completion of a Masters of Social Work, Masters of Educational Counselling, Occupational Therapy Degree (with Mental Health Specialization), Masters of Psychology or equivalent degree and permitted to perform the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy.

2- Registration with a relevant Regulatory College in good standing required.

3- Minimally 3 years clinical therapeutic experience with youth with significant behavioural challenges is an asset, or with high risk, high need populations.

4- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting.

6- Strong ability to apply clinical judgement and analysis to presenting behaviours and to design treatment plans to address underlying causes of behaviours such as developmental trauma, complex mental health and lack of skills in emotion regulation.

7- Demonstrated ability to apply the social determinants of health to care planning and interventions with clients and their families.

8- Must be able to work flexible hours as some evening work and on-call rotation will be required.

9- Bilingualism (French/English) preferred.

The following will be considered strong assets:



- Front-line experience in live-in / congregate care treatment settings;

- Experience working with Indigenous communities;

- Experience providing supervision to Masters level placement students is desired;

- Experience in, or previously designated child welfare work, is also an asset.

Pay: $69,960.27-$85,036.71 per year
