Your Opportunity:An exciting opportunity exists for a Mental Health Clinician responsible for providing addiction and mental health consultation, assessment, screening, referral, system navigation and counselling services to clients at the Edmonton Navigation and Support Centre. The Edmonton Navigation is a multi-agency initiative that offers unhoused and vulnerable individuals in the community access to services such as: income support, shelter and housing options, Indigenous supports, assistance obtaining valid Alberta identification and offers access to health, mental health and addiction supports. The Mental Health Clinician will provide support to individuals experiencing problems related to addiction and mental health concerns; provide individual counselling to improve health and to promote personal development and recovery resulting in changes to substance use, tobacco, gambling and process disorders; consult with health care professionals, communities, and other professionals on issues related to prevention and treatment; and act as a professional resource providing mentorship and support to internal, allied, contracted, and community stakeholders. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 3-5 years of recent and relevant Addiction and Mental Health experience. Clinical skills necessary to provide assessment, treatment and service planning, evaluation and crisis intervention required. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. Experience using motivational interviewing and solution-focused interventions. Proficient knowledge and training in models of addiction, and the psychological and physiological impact of substance use/abuse and process addictions. Knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone. Proficient knowledge of the continuum of mental health, detox and addiction treatment services. Experience working with partners external to Recovery Alberta/AHS and with non-profit community agencies. Self-motivated with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated responsible decision-making through the application of knowledge, critical thinking and sound legal and ethical judgment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in demanding and dynamic conditions. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills. Experience using a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, client-centered approach. Knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. Proficiency with computers, including MS Office Suite and Connect Care. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with unhoused and vulnerable individuals. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
