Description:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of DSM diagnoses and criteria, evidenced by relevant training or certification. Minimum of 6 months of experience in delivering targeted mental health interventions focused on symptom management and client understanding. Minimum of 6 months of experience in assessing and supporting clients with substance use concerns, including developing and implementing treatment plans. For Master of Counselling applicants, current registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists is mandatory. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in facilitating individual and group therapy sessions within adult mental health outpatient and inpatient settings is preferred. Experience working in inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment programs is preferred. Training and certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is preferred. Current registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), with authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions preferred.
