Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the unit manager, the Mental Health Clinician functions as a member of the Community Addiction and Mental Health Clinic (CAMHC) - South Services interdisciplinary team. As a primary therapist, the MHC provides assessment and targeted time-limited goal-focused therapy for clients with moderate to severe mental health disorders. At this time, this position entails working at or out of the South Calgary Health Centre, South Health Campus, or both sites. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's degree required for Psychologists. Registration with appropriate regulatory body. Authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions (ACSW). Minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 5 years in an adult community clinic mental health therapy setting. Adult Individual and group therapy experience. Adult mental health assessment and crisis stabilization experience. Training and therapy experience in DBT and Trauma focused treatment such as EMDR or ART with an adult population.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree preferred for all other relevant disciplines. Training and experience in goal focused episodic care and the recovery model. Basic knowledge of DSM 5, medical co-morbidities and psychotropic medications. Discharge planning experience, including knowledge of Calgary zone addiction and mental health resources. NVCI. BLS.
