About Us:
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The Healthy Workplace Team (HWT) provides access to a wide range of health and wellness services. Our team is comprised of psychologists, mental health clinicians, care navigators, reintegration services, peer supporters and members that specialize in fitness and nutrition. The HWT coordinates organizational and wellness programs including peer support and the chaplaincy program. The team also coordinates and supports the occupational medicine program for employees and managers. This program is delivered by an external occupational physician.

In this role, you will:
Provide short-term wellness support, make recommendations and connect OPP members and their families to resources for mental health, addictions, and trauma.
Researches and analyzes OPP and OPS data, to provide accurate mental health and wellness information to employees, families, and managers.
Responds promptly to employee and family inquiries, offering guidance on wellness practices like self-care, sleep hygiene, and general quality of life supports.
Supports members and families with HR matters including illness, injury, accommodations, disability management, and bereavement procedures.
Facilitates wellness debrief sessions (post critical incidents) to support and care for trauma exposed professionals.
Work collaboratively with internal and external OPP partners.

Mandatory requirements
Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
Degree or diploma in Social Work or Social Service Work, or equivalent (e.g. Psychotherapist, RN Psychotherapist) is required.
Must be registered, and in good standing, with their respective College at the time of application (e.g. OCSWSSW, CRPO, CNO, etc.).

Counselling and Case Management
Knowledge of social work theories and practices for counselling, family and trauma therapy, including mental health assessment, diagnosis, and intervention techniques.
Demonstrated crisis management skills including engagement, assessment, intervention, and safety planning.
Assess diverse, complex, and sensitive situations to determine appropriate actions; identify issues, evaluate health-related symptoms, and make informed decisions regarding ongoing healthcare needs.
Comprehensive knowledge of community resources and networks across Ontario, to engage stakeholders, promote the integration of programs with regional priorities/programs and to identify needs, service gaps and pressures.
Routinely address complex and unique situations, requiring decisions on contentious issues, coordination with diverse stakeholders, facilitation of integrated service delivery, and recommendations for new or revised operational policies and procedures.

Interpersonal and Communications Skills
Demonstrate courtesy, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in building rapport with clients and providing information and support to resolve complex mental health, trauma, and addiction-related issues.
Respond to employee and family inquiries, offering guidance on processes and procedures, including support during employee or family member bereavement.
Demonstrate tactical communication skills to maintain composure, adapt behavior to individual needs and situations, and de-escalate tense interactions by adjusting communication style to address resistance from distressed or irate clients.
Posses strong written communication skills to develop business reports, trend analyses, briefing notes, and recommendations to management on emerging issues, training needs, and the development or revision of operational procedures and business processes.
Proven ability to work effectively within diverse team environments by fostering open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to achieving common objectives.
