Mental Health Clinician, SJHC

Full Time (Contract- duration to be determined)

$31.69-39.62 (commensurate with experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our team (assigned respectively to Villa St. Gabrielle Villa and St. Joseph's Villa) . Under the direction of the Mental Health and Dementia Coordinator, the Mental Health Clinician will provide comprehensive direct and indirect care to residents experiencing mental health concerns within our compassionate, person-centred model of care. This role involves providing support services, incorporating psychosocial rehabilitation techniques and education, conducting assessments, managing symptoms and coping strategies, setting goals, and developing care and support plans.

Key Responsibilities:



oCollaborative Care: Work closely with the mental health and dementia team to address resident needs.

oAssessments: Evaluate residents upon referral from the interdisciplinary team to identify needs and goals.

oSupport Services: Deliver brief services and/or case management to address unmet needs, enhance life skills, improve social interactions, and manage mental illness. Provide medication education, monitor progress, and offer support during crises.

oEducation and Training: Facilitate mental health education and skill-building among staff and residents.

oCare Planning: Develop and implement care plans or personal support plans with residents, focusing on wellness strategies and goal achievement.

oInterdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with interdisciplinary staff and residents' families/support teams toensure comprehensive care. Facilitate internal referrals as necessary.

oResident Engagement: Participate in resident meetings, care plan reviews, and recreational activities. Support communication skills and conflict resolution.

oEvaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and suggest improvements in collaboration with the resident and care team.

oDocumentation: Maintain and update caseloads and complete necessary documentation.

oResource Access: Assist residents in accessing community resources and advocate for necessary services.

Qualifications:



oGraduation from a 2-year College Diploma Program or a University Degree in a Human Services Area (e.g., Health, Social Sciences, Mental Health & Addictions, Nursing diploma or degree).

oMinimum of 1-2 years working with individuals and families in the mental health system. Experience in a Long-Term Care environment is an asset.

oUnderstanding of Mental Health legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Rights Code, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Privacy Legislation, and Mental Health Policy is preferred.

oProficiency in counselling and clinical practice models related to concurrent disorders, dual diagnosis, addictions, and behavior disorders

. oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.

oEducation or certification in Trauma Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, SafeTalk, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Mental Health Works, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Gentle Persuasive Approaches, Geriatric Certificate Program, or similar is an asset
