The Grande Prairie Public School Division
is seeking a MHCB Wellness Coach who plays a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of children, youth, and families. The Grande Prairie Public School Division acts as the banker board for a joint division Mental Health Capacity Building Initiative.
Reporting to the MHCB Program Manager, the Coach provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention services through evidence-based, developmentally appropriate programming. Delivered in both school and community settings, this work focuses on building knowledge, enhancing skills, and fostering wellness through small and large group formats. Coaches also collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to strengthen mental health literacy and capacity.
In this role, the Coach builds strong relationships and serves as a trusted resource for students, staff, and families. They help identify individuals who may benefit from specialized services and support access to those resources. The position requires compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA), the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIA), the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and Alberta Health Services (AHS) policies, along with participation in evaluation and data collection activities.

:
A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g., social sciences, health promotion, psychology, public health, nursing, social work, early childhood development)
A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license in good standing is required for this position
A minimum of two years' experience in addiction and mental health or a related health/human services role
Strong knowledge of addiction and mental health
Familiarity with the developmental, emotional, educational, and recreational needs of children, youth, and families
Experience in program delivery and public speaking
Exceptional relationship-building and time management skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in facilitation, positive communication, and creative problem-solving
A solid understanding and practice of professional boundaries
Hours of Work:
Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day or 35 hours/week. These are year-round positions with scheduled time off during the Christmas/Winter break and Easter/Spring Break.
