You\xe2\x80\x99re looking in the right place.Whether you work in our office, in the community, or a health care facility \xe2\x80\x93 you will play a lead role in providing connected, accessible, patient-centred care \xe2\x80\x93 and be supported by our collaborative team that includes over 9,000 regulated health care and other professionals.As a valued team member, your mission will be to help our patients be healthier at home, while you benefit from our supports for professional growth, personal wellness and work-life balance.This is a 12-month Temporary Full-Time opportunity in the Owen Sound/ Hanover location.What will you do?As an integral part of this interdisciplinary team, you will bring your mental health and addictions expertise to provide essential health related advice and support educators within the district school boards; The nurse will assist Grey Bruce school boards in recognizing and responding to student mental health and addictions issues and work with the boards to develop strategies to address student mental health and addictions needs; You will play a key role in providing the support of a health professional in helping students and/or parents\' access services such as family health care, community mental health and/or addictions agencies.

• Provide support to DSBs to build capacity for recognizing and appropriately responding to student mental health and addictions issues.
• Collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team and provide essential health-related advice and support to the DSB\'s staff in developing comprehensive plans to respond to the mental health and addiction needs of students.
• Advise school staff on potential side effects of different classes of medications, and provide medical consultation to school staff regarding issues such as medication management for individual students.
• Provide early interventions of care for working with students and families as addressed with counselling and therapeutic interventions and follow up assessments for mental health and addiction issues.
• Provide support to the intervention team in the management of complex issues such as refusal to attend treatment, self-harm, suicide, or violent behaviour.
• Provide essential health-related advice and support to the Mental Health leaders in developing comprehensive board plans to respond to the mental health and addiction needs of students.
• Act as a spokesperson as required, and interpret the role of Ontario Health atHome to patients, health care professionals, and to the public. Ensure positive public relations and effective coordination of services through ongoing liaison and participation on internal and external committees.
• Assess and promote a safe environment for patients, caregivers, family members, and staff.
• Receive, prioritize, and take timely action regarding new request for service.
• Develop and build relationships with mental health service providers and educators by utilizing various forms of communication including face-to-face and virtual/telephone interactions.

What must you have?

• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse (BScN or diploma)
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct clinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth
• Knowledge of the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth
• Solid knowledge of health care and related legislation and practices
• Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Ability to work independently
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience as a Registered Nurse
• Must have a valid driver\'s license and access to a vehicle (Significant travel within the respective school board districts of Bruce County)
