Make a difference in the lives of Albertans by joining the team in the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Services (SAFPC) as a Mental Health Aide. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Mental Health Aide works in alignment with the established protocols for the NCR-MD (Not Criminally Responsible Due to Mental Disorder) program at SAPFC and in the community rehabilitation and recovery homes. Adheres to Recovery Alberta policies, as well as the principles of Recovery Oriented Care, choice, dignity, privacy, individuality, and independence. Areas of support include assisting disciplines in daily/scheduled tasks, assisting the residents with daily living skills; Attending and encouraging residents to attend scheduled programs/ meetings, groups and conferences, assists with transporting residents, and supporting residents with linkages to community supports. Description:
As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered. Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team. Minimum of 1 years' experience in the last 5 years (inpatient or outpatient) working with individuals with chronic severe mental health issues. Ability to demonstrate understanding of mental health decomposition. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills required. NVCI training. Current BLS Certification. Preferred Qualifications:
Food Handling course. Knowledge related to the Not Criminally Responsible Due to Mental Disorder patients and applicable legislation. Knowledge regarding Calgary community agencies. Knowledge relating to recovery and rehabilitation. Connect Care training.
