As a member of the Canadian Oncology team, you will lead, coach, and develop the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team and lead the execution of strategic medical plans for oncology in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for building, managing, and coaching a high-performance team of MSLs in Oncology.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of MSLs competencies, skills, effectiveness, and progress toward objectives.
  • Contribute to the professional development of MSLs through training, coaching, mentoring, including conducting needs assessments, developing, and implementing MSL training plans.
  • Be accountable for the planning and execution of local MSL strategic and tactical plans, aligned with Oncology franchise strategy.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of consolidated Medical Expert/Health Care Professional insights that may impact Novartis development plans, trial designs, launch strategies, tactics and medical education programs tailored to physician needs.
  • Supports execution of Oncology product-specific strategic and tactical plans and allocate appropriate projects to respective team members.
  • Be accountable for productivity and efficiency improvements of the team. Ensure consistent and compliant application of effective technology to enhance productivity of the team.
  • Ensure the creation and implementation of high-quality standardized processes across all teams.
  • Support and contribute to Local/Regional Medical Affairs\' and Global Medical Affairs\' objectives.
  • In our high-performance team environment, the role requires optimization of available Novartis resources and appropriate cross-functional collaboration with Medical Advisors, Commercial, Scientific & Medical Communication Managers, New Product Strategies, in accordance with compliance guidelines to ensure a successful, integrated regional medical plan.
Minimum requirements

Essential Requirements:
  • MD, PhD, or PharmD, Master or equivalent advanced degree in health care and a minimum 6-8 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical / pharma / healthcare industry including people management.
  • Strong leadership, personal integrity and demonstrated customer focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively on multifunctional teams in a constantly changing environment and to motivate a team to do the same.
  • Proven ability to interpret, communicate and implement medical/scientific strategies to direct reports.
  • Thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Fluent in English and French (oral and written)
Desirable Requirements:
  • Excellent pharmacovigilance, compliance and knowledge of Canadian (national and provincial) health care systems and environment is an asset
  • Oncology experience is an asset
