Position Summary




This is a maternity leave coverage at the Fort McMurray clinic. The position ends on or before June 2026, with possibility of extension.


As a Medical Receptionist, you play a crucial role in ensuring the continued delivery of reliable, accurate, and compassionate services to our patients, referring physicians, and colleagues.


As the first point of contact within the clinic, you set the tone for the patient experience. You will be able to approach every interaction with respect and professionalism, providing each patient with clear, thorough, and timely care.


Your primary responsibilities will include checking in patients for exams, scheduling follow-up studies as needed, coordinating patients for multiple exams, managing front desk duties, and maintaining a smooth flow for both patients and the clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities



Greet and check in patients. Record patient information on the computer. Notify relevant department(s) of patient arrival. Ensure all prior examinations are uploaded. Porter patients and assist with exam preparation. Answer phones and redirect calls appropriately. Process incoming requests for reports and images. Request previous exams from external facilities. Retrieve and upload medical history prior to scheduled patient arrival. Perform photocopying, faxing, and mailing duties. Order and maintain adequate office inventory. Maintain constant communication with Diagnostic Imaging staff. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and/or results. Schedule patients for exams. Provide patients with exam preparation instructions. Ensure the front waiting area remains neat and tidy. Unpack and distribute daily courier bags. Sign for and direct any deliveries and supplies coming into the clinic. Provide training support to new staff as needed. Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Site Lead or Reception Manager.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Self-motivated with the ability to recognize and manage multiple priorities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency. Interact with patients in a respectful and professional manner. Maintain privacy and confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Adaptable to new policies and procedures. Knowledgeable in office routines, schedules and protocol.

Qualifications



Secondary (high) school graduation diploma or certificate of completion. Computer experience with minimum 50 words per minute. Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology. Medical Receptionist Program an asset.
