At BGSA, our Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) have an extensive understanding of the principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology, image acquisition, treatment and radiation protection to deliver quality care to their patients.

full-time Medical Radiation Technologist

Job Overview



The

Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT)

is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging, currently focusing on

mammography and bone mineral density (BMD) scanning

. This role focuses on delivering accurate, timely imaging services while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities



Provide safe, high-quality mammography and bone densitometry imaging, in full compliance with ACMDTT and CAMRT Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and all provincial and federal regulations

Deliver exceptional patient care--welcome and identify patients, explain procedures clearly, and ensure comfort and dignity throughout their visit

Perform and evaluate imaging exams to produce accurate, diagnostic-quality images, and collaborate with radiologists and team members as needed

Review the patient's clinical history, plan and adapt the imaging examination for optimal results, and educate the patient--addressing questions and ensuring the requested exam is appropriate and follows BGSA policies and procedures.

Support a culture of safety and quality by applying ALARA principles, participating in quality-assurance and accreditation activities, and helping maintain equipment and supplies

Assess images for diagnostic quality and verify all image files and patient information for accuracy and completeness

Participated in quality assurance and quality control programs

Contribute to a positive and professional clinic environment and be open to future cross-training opportunities, such as general diagnostic X-ray, as services expand

Maintain a clean, organised work area and restock supplies as needed.

Perform other duties as required to support clinic operations

Qualifications & Experience



Current CAMRT member and licensed to practice with the ACMDTT Mammography requirement: Completion of CAMRT Mammography 1 course. Bone Densitometry: ISCD certification (or equivalent).
Strong technical expertise in positioning and imaging

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to interact effectively with patients and team members

High attention to detail and accuracy in imaging and documentation

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in English

Exceptional patient care with a patient service-oriented approach

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Working Conditions



Clinical setting in Brooks, Alberta

Regular standing, walking, and assisting patients with occasional lifting (>20 lbs)

Monday to Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
