We are currently inviting applications for a

Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist

to join our dedicated healthcare team. This role combines both administrative and clinical responsibilities to support the daily operations of our medical practice and ensure an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and patient care.

Primary Responsibilities



Administrative Functions



Provide courteous and efficient assistance by answering phone calls, responding to messages, and addressing patient inquiries. Coordinate and confirm patient appointments, ensuring accurate scheduling and timely follow-up. Enter and update patient information and vital signs in the

Accuro EMR

system with precision. Maintain examination and treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean, orderly, and properly stocked.

Clinical Functions



Welcome patients and prepare them for medical examinations and procedures. Measure and record vital signs such as height, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose. Prepare examination rooms before each patient visit and disinfect surfaces following established protocols. Perform venipuncture and specimen collection accurately and safely, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to all laboratory standards. Clearly explain phlebotomy procedures and provide reassurance to patients as needed. Label, document, and manage specimens appropriately to ensure reliable test results and proper handling.

General Duties



Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with various administrative and clinical tasks as directed. Uphold confidentiality and comply with all privacy legislation, safety standards, and infection control procedures. Contribute to a positive and collaborative clinical environment focused on patient well-being.

Qualifications



Certification in Phlebotomy

from a

Canadian Accredited Phlebotomy Institute

(required). Previous experience in a medical or clinical office environment (preferred). Competency in

electronic medical record (EMR)

systems and general computer applications. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail. Knowledge of laboratory best practices, infection control, and workplace safety standards. Professional communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
