We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and professional
Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist
to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in both administrative and clinical functions, ensuring high-quality patient care and contributing to a smooth and efficient medical office environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
Answer incoming phone calls and voicemails; respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Schedule appointments and follow up with patients as needed
Accurately enter patient vital signs and relevant data into the Accuro EMR system
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam rooms
Clinical Duties
Greet and prepare patients for their appointments and procedures
Take and record vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels
Set up exam rooms before patient visits and disinfect after each use
Perform venipuncture (blood draws) with skill, efficiency, and care
Clearly explain phlebotomy procedures and address patient questions or concerns
Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and handling of specimens
General
Provide assistance with various tasks as assigned by healthcare providers or office management
Maintain a high standard of patient care and professional conduct
Protect patient confidentiality and comply with safety and infection control protocols
Key Success Factors
Proficiency in laboratory protocols and healthcare regulations
Strong communication skills with the ability to follow and relay instructions accurately
Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
Competence in computer use and electronic medical record systems
Knowledge of safety, hygiene, and infection prevention practices
Demonstrated ability to perform blood draws with minimal discomfort or complications
Compassionate, patient-focused, and professional interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
Qualifications
Professional certification in phlebotomy from a
Canadian Accredited Phlebotomy Institute
(required)
Previous experience in a clinical or medical office setting (preferred)
