Position Summary


We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented, and professional Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. In this dual role, you will support both administrative and clinical functions, ensuring smooth clinic operations while providing excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is adaptable, reliable, and committed to creating a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities



Administrative Duties



Answer incoming phone calls and voicemails; respond to patient inquiries promptly and professionally. Schedule and confirm appointments; follow up with patients as required. Accurately record patient vitals and related information in the Accuro EMR system. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms.

Clinical Duties



Greet and prepare patients for their appointments and procedures. Measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Prepare exam rooms prior to visits and disinfect after each use. Perform venipuncture (blood draws) efficiently, safely, and with care. Explain phlebotomy procedures clearly and address patient concerns with empathy. Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and handling of all specimens.

General



Support healthcare providers and office management with additional tasks as needed. Deliver high standards of patient care and maintain professional conduct at all times. Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols.

Key Success Factors



Knowledge of laboratory protocols and healthcare regulations. Strong communication skills with the ability to follow and relay instructions effectively. Excellent multitasking, time management, and organizational skills. Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record systems (Accuro EMR experience an asset). Solid understanding of safety, hygiene, and infection control standards. Demonstrated ability to perform blood draws with minimal discomfort to patients. Compassionate, patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications



Professional certification in phlebotomy from a Canadian Accredited Phlebotomy Institute (required). Previous experience in a medical office or clinical environment (preferred).
