Medical Clerical Assistant/MOA
. . It is a full-time, one year term position.
Nature of work
: This position assists primarily with clinical duties for a busy specialist, who also provides support to various teaching, research, and administrative functions. This position is of moderate complexity. Multitasking, organizational skills, and attention to detail are important. The successful candidate must also possess strong oral and written communication skills in addition to well-developed interpersonal skills. The person will work with 7 to 8 other people and should be adaptable, able to take direction, and willing to help others in the SMDP.
Typical Duties/Accountabilities
: Responsibilities will include scheduling clinics, patient billing, organizing, booking and transcribing minutes of meetings, scheduling teaching activities, coordinating appointments and schedules in Microsoft Outlook, etc. The successful candidate may be asked to perform other administrative tasks as assigned. Responsibilities for this position may also involve occasional patient assessments in clinics including vital signs and data collection for research, and involvement in research activities.
Qualifications
: Completion of Grade 12 and recognized post-secondary Medical Administrative Assistant Program or Medical Office Assistant program. Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) - ACCURO are required. Current medical terminology.
