Care Gateway Medical Clinics supports patients with a full range of medical care. We work with partners outside the clinic(s) to provide a wide variety of wraparound services to people experiencing Mental Health & Addiction.

Our clinics also provide services in youth mental health, learning disabilities, smoking cessation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Hepatitis C management, HIV PREP, Chronic Pain Management, General Practice Medicine, Family Medicine and we have full on-site pharmacy services in both locations. Care Gateway operates locations in both Wetaskiwin and Red Deer.

Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE - The Medical Office Assistant role will be part time or casual.



Working with the physician(s), this position is responsible primarily for the day-to-day administrative management of patients.

Maintain and set up appointment templates for each physician in EMR Maintain documentation in the EMR ensuring no mistakes were made Answer incoming calls in a timely manner and schedule appointments based on patient requests, physician availability, and booking preference, confirm appointments for medicals and patients with a record of no-shows, complete booked appointment reminder phone calls, replace no shows, cancellations with other potential patients. Organize, prepare and clean exam rooms following Infection Prevention and Control measures and insure each room is appropriately stocked with supplies, complete daily task lists including checking voicemail Investigate and follow up on missing test results as requested by physician Greet patients as they arrive and indicate arrival in EMR, verifying/updating patient demographics as needed, complete vitals and enter them into the EMR Ensure the patients have received and signed all required consent forms for procedures and third party medicals Complete medical forms with patient demographics, medical history Escort the patient to the exam room ; provide instructions to prepare patient for visit (e.g. disrobing) Complete eye exams, urine dips, ECGs, and patient vitals as appropriate and enter results into the EMR Chaperone intimate exams, as requested Monitor exam room occupancy to ensure exam rooms are filled Collect uninsured charges from patient; produce invoices and receipts as needed Book follow up appointments, patient phone call reminders Book tests and referrals for urgent referrals and patients who need assistance Assemble referral packages as send to specialists Check EMR on an ongoing basis for instructions from physician, complete imports and exports. Chart relevant data into patient charts in the EMR e.g. record faxes sent, Rx refills, etc. Ensure sharps and biohazard waste is disposed of appropriately Deliver all phone messages and mail to physicians Monitor general clinic medical supply inventory, re-order and stock supplies Provide other administrative support including reception, faxing and copying documents and processing incoming and outgoing mail/faxes. Conduct appropriate coordination with physicians and management Perform other related duties, as required
Qualifications preferred;

Diploma or Certificate in Medical Office Administration (MOA) or relevant experience in healthcare, HCA's will be considered pending on experience Advanced administrative skills Proficiency in electronic medical records system (EMR) Clear Criminal Record Check Current First Aid & CPR

Location:

This position is based in our Wetaskiwin clinic, however you maybe required to work in the Red Deer clinic location. Must be willing to travel. Reliable vehicle.

Pay: $17.00-$25.00 per hour
