Our very busy medical office is seeking for an enthusiastic medical office assistant/ surgical counselor with
very flexible working hours (including evening shifts)
, strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and team player.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
Participate in the administrative staff meetings and provide suggestions for improvement
Maintain hygiene in the entrance and waiting rooms
Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Educating patients on surgery and surgical options, addressing fears, addressing financial concerns, scheduling patients for surgery, book patients on EMR and add them on cancellation lists as necessary
SURGICAL COUNSELOR:
Giving patients paperwork to fill out, assisting patients with signing surgical consent and filling all the documents necessary for booking their surgery.
Providing patients with pre- and post-operative instructions.
Managing surgical documents, gathering and inputting patients' information, putting together their surgical charts, calculating and ordering their intraocular lens
Answering telephones and emails as well as common questions about surgical times, appointments, and instructions.
Scheduling patients' appointments and surgeries and sending reminders to patients by email if necessary.
Ensuring all surgical cases are scheduled in a timely manner with accuracy in accordance with the Physician or Surgeon's directions.
Calculating intraocular lens power
QUALIFICATIONS
Intermediate to advanced phone skills; able to effectively relate via the telephone and in person to serve the needs of Clinic patients in a manner that is efficient and productive.
Must be highly flexible; able to accommodate changing needs of the culture.
Well- developed verbal and written communication skills in English
Knowledge of basic math and modern office procedures.
Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
Basic to intermediate computer knowledge and skills
Training and/or experience with computer data entry
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalent
Medical Office Administrator course and at least one year of Medical Receptionist experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time (minimum of 30 hours/ week), possible two Saturdays per year
Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
