Seeking a full-time medical administrative assistant for two small, welcoming practices in Orillia: a family medicine with obstetrics practice and an outpatient neurology practice. This position is an essential part of providing high quality compassionate medical care to our community and the first point of contact for patients in both practices.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; be able to work both independently and as part of a team; and be compassionate, friendly and dedicated to providing exemplary care.
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Schedule appointments and meetings for 2 physicians and 1 nurse
Greet and register office patients, confirm up to date demographic information
Address patient and other health care provider/institution inquiries on the phone and in person
Respond to all communications (phone calls, EMR messages, faxes) in a timely manner
Manage documents and patient charts within electronic medical records (Telus Health PS Suite and Accuro)
Manage outgoing and incoming referrals and diagnostic testing for patients as well as incoming results
Maintain office supplies and overall office functioning
Respect patient confidentiality at all times
Qualifications and Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong Telephone and Patient Relation skills
Strong Computer Skills (e.g. Word, Excel, email, troubleshooting basic IT issues)
Experience and working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, particularly Telus Health PS Suite and Accuro, is an asset
Ability to multi-task and set priorities while managing a high volume of phone calls and other interruptions
Ability to work both independently and also as a member of a collaborative team
Knowledge of medical terminology
Preference to those who have completed a Medical Administrative Assistant Program
Preference to previous clerical experience in a medical office or hospital setting
Experience with OHIP and 3rd party billing is an asset

Schedule:
The current position is a 5 day work week (8am-5pm Mon-Thurs and 8am-2pm Fri) with some flexibility to adjust hours for the right candidate.
