The Yuustway Health & Wellness team is looking for a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to support the day-to-day operations of the Kal'numet Primary Care Clinic. This vital role ensures that S?wx?wu7mesh patients receive timely, organized, and compassionate care through excellent administrative and clinical support. The MOA is the first point of contact for patients, contributing to a welcoming and respectful environment, and plays a critical role in organizing appointments, managing medical documentation, coordinating referrals, and maintaining the overall flow of clinic operations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced health environment, upholds the highest standards of confidentiality and client care, and is committed to supporting Indigenous health and wellness in a community-driven setting.
What You'll Do
------------------
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments with a variety of healthcare providers (GP, NP, RN, ND, etc.).
Provide a warm, respectful, and confidential front-line experience for all patients.
Maintain and update patient medical files, ensuring accurate data entry and secure documentation.
Prepare paperwork and documentation for appointments, including intake forms and lab requisitions.
File and track patient information, test results, and follow-ups in accordance with clinic procedures.
Support the clinic's billing processes by reviewing, preparing, and submitting MSP and third-party invoices.
Coordinate medical referrals, specialist appointments, and patient communications.
Support clinical operations and quality improvement by maintaining statistics and generating reports as needed.
Provide administrative support to internal and partner meetings, including minute-taking and logistics.
Support Elder care, cultural practices, and respectful meeting environments as required.
Assist with general administrative tasks including reports, letters, data tracking, and promotional materials.
Uphold confidentiality protocols and maintain respectful, trauma-informed communication at all times.
Travel to the Squamish Valley Clinic when required, as services expand.
What We're Looking For

Completion of a Medical Office Assistant Certificate from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical clinic or health care setting, ideally supporting Indigenous clients or communities.
Knowledge of and commitment to confidentiality, cultural safety, and trauma-informed practice.
Proficiency in medical records management, appointment scheduling, and billing processes.
Familiarity with MSP billing systems, electronic medical records (EMR), and health information privacy practices.
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and adapt in a busy, team-oriented clinic environment.
Knowledge of or interest in S?wx?wu7mesh culture, language, and community values is a strong asset.
Class 5 BC Driver's License and willingness to travel to Squamish as needed.
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Salary:
$ 54,000 - 75,500
