Job Description

Looking for a friendly and hard-working individual who is a quick learner and self starter to join our team in a busy family medicine office for three physicians. The role includes medical office administration, reception, and patient care.

Experience with Telus Practice Solutions and Ocean beneficial but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities



Pleasantly greets all patients both during scheduling, registration process and when answering all phone calls. Triages and prioritizes the relay of messages promptly. Triages appointment scheduling Schedules patient appointments daily and as required to optimize flow and minimize downtime. Ensures the electric medical record (EMR) patient information is up to date and accurate. Manages incoming forms and paperwork Takes appropriate payment for uninsured services Manages incoming documents (eg faxes) and uploads accurately to patients charts Arranges for referrals/consults as directed by physicians, keeping referral bank current and liaises with specialists offices as needed. Calls patients to notify of test/specialist appointment times as needed. Phones patients to discuss test results as advised by physician. Prepares exam rooms for physicians using universal infection control precautions. Rooms patients and documents accurate patient histories. Obtains vital signs as directed by physician. Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates discretion and professionalism when communicating with patients and medical personnel. Evidence of problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrates flexibility to accept changes to areas of responsibility as required including an openness to be trained and learn new skills.

Qualifications and Skills:



Medical Secretary or Office assistant certificate/diploma or equivalent an asset. Three to five years of experience in a clinic and or family practice office preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required. Evidence of problem solving and conflict resolution skills required. Strong ability to multitask required Ability to work in collaborative team with physicians, nurses and MOAs required. Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills required. Clinical skills including dressings, staple/suture remover, preparation and administration of injections and assisting in other minor procedures an asset but not required. Demonstrates effective listening and verbal skills required. Professional in attire required. Demonstrates flexibility to accept changes to areas of responsibility as required Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentially for all information pertaining to the work environment. Current police check (within last 6 Months) and vaccine record required
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 - 30 per week

Work Location: In person
